Meet Courtney
I would not change you for the world But I will change the world for you.
I am learning to ride a bike.
I have some motor skill stuff. I can't always do things that other kids my age like to do. Things like ride a bike. My little sister really enjoys riding her bike and I am normally just kind of watching her. My legs just don't want to work like hers. Its very frustrating. I am starting to get it though!
Stimming
One very cool thing about having a baby in the house is the toys! I love my baby brothers toys. They are great for stimming. All of the spinning and lighting up.
Reading troubles.
Remember we talked about how literal and strict my thinking can be? This is a good example of how it can make things harder for me.
I am trying to learn how to read. I have until now been learning sight words. Now though people are trying to teach me phonics and how to read that way. I am stuck. I know my phonics pretty well. I can tell you what an S says. But I just cant connect that with words. Letters and their sounds are all together separate from words. Words are words and letters are letters.
My little Pony remix
More singing. I LOVE my little pony. I LOVE singing. So of course what am I going to sing about?
Autistic does not equal shy!
I am autistic, no one that I know would describe me as shy though. As long as I am not overstimulated I adore people. If I see that mommy likes you I will run right up to you and give you a big smile. It does not matter if you know me or not. The problem is, what do I do next? I want to be your friend and I know that I have to say hi but I am not so sure what to do next. So if I run up to you smiling and you want to be my friend please help me out. Try to stick to simple cues like extend your hand out to me for me to hold or shake, and give me a big excited "hi Courtney". I promise you, I am worth the effort!!
I can sing!
I started preK 3 and my teachers have been amazing with me. I am learning lots of new songs and learned that I love to sing.
My speech has been really developing with all of my new friends to talk to!
